Welcome to the new Code & Chords Music Academy by Dynamic Mentoring Tech, a program for students in grades 6–12 that combines music training, tech and trade skills, and faith-centered mentoring.
Music brings students in. Tech and trades give them a future. Mentoring helps them grow into leaders.

Led by Dr. Bennie A. Duncan
Our music program is led by Dr. Bennie A. Duncan, a master composer, singer, songwriter, pastor, and mentor. Dr. Duncan has dedicated his life to helping young people discover their purpose and develop their gifts. He teaches students that music, faith, discipline, and education can work together to open extraordinary doors.
How the Week Works
Tuesday: Tech & Trade Lab (1.5 hours)
Students learn hands-on in a classroom setting. Each lab starts with a fun review of last week, introduces one new idea, and spends most of the time on hands-on practice with Linux, technology, and audio equipment.
Weekly Music + Mentoring Session (2 hours 45 minutes)
Families choose a weekly group time slot that fits their schedule. Each session includes small-group instrument or vocal lessons, time in a music track, and 45 minutes of small-group mentoring.
One-on-One Lessons (by appointment)

Four Music Tracks
🎹 Beat Making: create beats, learn music production software, mixing and mastering, and sound design
🎙️ Recording Arts & Engineering: studio recording, audio engineering, and live sound
✍️ Songwriting & Composition: lyric writing, melody and harmony, music theory, and arranging
🎤 Performance & Vocal Arts: vocal training, stage presence, and confidence building
Instruments include piano, bass, guitar, and vocals.
Two Levels That Grow With Your Child
NextGen Explore (Grades 6–8): $299/month
Students explore all four tracks to find their sound. They learn beginning piano, bass, guitar, or vocals, take their first steps with Linux on a Raspberry Pi, and get a first look at microphones, speakers, and mixing boards.
NextGen Prep (Grades 9–12): $349/month
Students choose one track and master their craft. They build real tech skills in Linux, databases, cybersecurity, and cloud basics, and learn live sound and AV technology, a paid trade at churches, concerts, and events. By the end of 11th grade, students choose a tech, trade, or music production path.
Where Music Meets Technology: Studio Lab
Students record their own music, then bring it into the Tuesday lab to edit and mix it using real software that runs on Linux. Along the way, they learn skills employers pay for: organizing files, backing up their work, and storing and sharing their music in the cloud. Technology becomes the place where their music comes to life.
Senior Capstone
Seniors finish strong with:
- Preparation for a certification in tech or music technology
- A job shadow or internship with a recording studio, AV company, or church media team
- A final project: a recorded EP or a live showcase performance
- A plan for after graduation
Mentoring: Faith. Focus. Future.
Each month focuses on a life topic like purpose and identity, discipline, handling criticism, money basics, job interviews, and online safety. Students hear from producers, sound engineers, worship leaders, and tech professionals, and set personal goals in music and in tech.

Safe and Supportive
All instructors and mentors are background-checked and cleared. We follow a two-adult rule for mentoring, and one-on-one lessons are held in open, visible spaces with parents welcome to sit in. All scheduling goes through parents or the DMT office.
Students attend Tuesday lab to take the stage. The skills come first.
